POSITION SUMMARY:

The employee will be required to be the licensed worker in the particular trade in which the
district will utilize them. They may be required to supervise a varying number of employees in the
overall direction, coordination, and completion of tasks as assigned. The employee will be required
to work in close relation to his/her peers and all other Choctaw-Nicoma Park School District
employees.

 

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

• Ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily
• High School Diploma or general education degree (GED)
• Must clear all necessary criminal and vehicular background checks.
• Must possess and maintain a current Oklahoma license for motor vehicles.
• Must be available for unscheduled, emergency calls in their trade area.
• Shall provide a reasonable method of communication during unscheduled, emergency situations.
• Currently licensed and in good standing with the State of Oklahoma as a Plumber, Electrician or
Mechanical (HVAC) Journeyman.
• Must be able to maintain the required licensing requirement throughout employment with the
district with no lapses in licensing.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Employee must be reliable, dependable and require minimum supervision. Neatness in appearance,
courteous and tactful in dealing with other employees or the general public. Must be very
professional and maintain confidential information of sensitive nature.
2. Regularly must work in confined spaces at, above or below ground level (man holes, storm
sewers, electrical closets, HVAC closets, ditches, etc.
3. Will be required to run machinery needed for the trade using proper safety precautions
4. Regularly use diagnostic equipment to identify problems in a wide variety of district equipment
and appliances such as hot water heaters, dish machines, circulation pumps, ovens, steam kettles,
fryolators, garbage disposals, heating and air conditioning units, breaker boxes, etc., and make
repairs as necessary.
5. Should be skilled in proper time management. Should develop a working knowledge of vendors,
purchase orders, work order and call-in work requests.

6. Must become proficient in the application of the federal, state and local building codes,
regulations and laws in the applicable trade area.
7. Must exhibit good communications skills towards Principals, Teachers, Food Service Personnel,
Custodians and Students. Must perform as part of an overall maintenance team working for the timely
completion of all assigned tasks, and at times working in different departments.

8. Employee shall be responsible for maintaining general materials stock and the cleanliness of

all district owned vehicles assigned to the employee. Employee shall also be responsible for
reporting all vehicle problems to the Director of Maintenance. Employee shall be responsible for
all assigned District owned tools and/or equipment assigned.
9. Additional duties that may be assigned by immediate supervisor or above.

 

LANGUAGE AND GRAMMAR SKILLS:
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos. Ability to
compose and write grammatically correct correspondence and memos.

 

REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations
where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished
in written, oral, diagram, schedule form, or blueprint form.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger,

crawl. The employee is occasionally required to sit.
The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up
to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision,
color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to fumes or airborne
particles. The employee frequently works in high, precarious places and in outside weather
conditions. The employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts, extreme cold (including
outdoors), extreme heat (including direct sunlight), risk of electrical shock and vibration.
The noise level in the work environment will vary from somewhat loud to extremely loud.

To ensure continuity of services, remote work may be necessary in the event of a health crisis or
disruptive situation that requires the closing of school and/or office buildings. An employee’s
eligibility for remote work will be determined by the superintendent of schools. Expectations and
guidelines for remote work will be distributed by the employee’s supervisor, based on his/her role
and responsibilities.


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
May supervise trainees or apprentices in their trade area in the overall direction, coordination,
and completion of tasks as assigned.
